Observability of lensing of gravitational waves from massive black hole binaries with LISA

چکیده
The gravitational waves emitted by massive black hole binaries in the Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) band can be lensed. Wave-optics effects lensed signal are crucial when Schwarzschild radius of lens is smaller than wavelength radiation. These frequency-dependent enable us to infer parameters, possibly with a single detection alone. In this work, we assess observability wave-optics LISA performing an information-matrix analysis using analytical solutions for both point-mass and singular isothermal sphere lenses. We use gravitational-waveform models that include merger, ringdown, higher harmonics, aligned spins study how waveform source parameters affect measurement errors parameters. find previous work underestimated detect signals impact lower masses.

Low-Frequency Gravitational Waves from Massive Black Hole Binaries: Predictions for LISA and Pulsar Timing Arrays
The coalescence of massive black hole (BH) binaries due to galaxy mergers provides a primary source of low-frequency gravitational radiation detectable by pulsar timing measurements and by the proposed LISA (Laser Interferometry Space Antenna) observatory. We compute the expected gravitational radiation signal from sources at all redshifts by combining the predicted merger rate of galactic halo...
متن کاملLocalizing coalescing massive black hole binaries with gravitational waves
Massive black hole binary coalescences are prime targets for space-based gravitational wave (GW) observatories such as LISA. GW measurements can localize the position of a coalescing binary on the sky to an ellipse with a major axis of a few tens of arcminutes to a few degrees, depending on source redshift, and a minor axis which is 2 − 4 times smaller. Neglecting weak gravitational lensing, th...
متن کاملExtreme recoils: impact on the detection of gravitational waves from massive black hole binaries
Recent numerical simulations of coalescences of highly spinning massive black hole binaries (MBHBs) suggest that the remnant can suffer a recoil velocity of the order of few thousands km/s. We study here, by means of dedicated simulations of black holes build–up, how such extreme recoils could affect the cosmological coalescence rate of MBHBs, placing a robust lower limit for the predicted numb...
متن کاملGravitational Waves from Coalescing Black Hole Macho Binaries
If MACHOs are black holes of mass ∼0.5 M,, they must have been formed in the early universe when the temperature was ∼1 GeV. We estimate that in this case in our Galaxy’s halo out to ∼ 50 kpc there exist ∼5 # black hole binaries the coalescence times of which are comparable to the age of the universe, so that the 8 10 coalescence rate will be ∼ events yr per galaxy. This suggests that we can ex...
متن کاملLow frequency gravitational waves from black hole MACHO binaries
The intensity of low frequency gravitational waves from black hole MACHO binaries is studied. First we estimate the gravitational wave background produced by black hole MACHO binaries in the Milky Way halo as well as the cosmological gravitational wave background produced by the extragalactic black hole MACHO binaries. It is found that the cosmological gravitational wave background due to black...
